Artists Supporting Artists

My next-door neighbor is a stained-glass artist. She can also sketch art. She offered to make me a stained-glass piece and asked what I would like. As I knew I was going to put it in my office, I asked for something related to books. I, in trade, gave her all 25 print copies of my books (thankfully she reads my genre). I’m not sure who got the better deal. The picture is above and I’m blown away by how creative the piece is, and the fact that she was able to work one my titles and author name onto the piece is amazing. It’s roughly 18x22 inches and is proudly displayed in my office window.
I had hoped to finish my work in progress before I left on a vacation to Scotland, but I had an unexpected visitor and that destroyed my writing time. Since I returned, I’m overwhelmed by the weeds that grew in my absence as well as the life catch-up one does when they’ve been away from home for 12 days. Added to that I’m itching to implement ideas that I learned from an author conference in London. Can you say, “distractions”?

Finally, two pictures from Scotland. For those readers who have read CASTLE KILLING, set in Wales and Scotland, the above picture is the imagined wall that Jill threw a bad dude over to his death. At the time I was writing the book in 2017, I viewed pictures of Edinburgh Castle online to make sure there was a wall high enough to kill someone, now eight years later, I was able to see the walls in person. Such is the life of a crime writer.
Here’s a picture of a Highland Cow. Who couldn’t love these shaggy, friendly-looking cows. Also, I've attached a short video so you can see how adorable they seem to be.

Cheers,
Alec
you've had your fun now back to the writing!! You have fans out here starving for the next one. Love the stained glass. Does she go to art fairs or commission work? I'd actually love the same one (of course with the book I'm in as the cover) Vials is my favorite one though. Perhaps because it was the first (I think)
Continue having a great summer. Thanks for the Scotland pics. Fantastic
