Jill Quint is alive and well in my head

I haven’t written a Jill Quint novel in over two years (yes I did do a short story, but a full length novel). As I’m writing POISONOUS MURDER Jill, Nathan, Marie, Angela, and Jo are back acting out a story on stage for me. I’m not sure yet if Henrik will make an appearance. They’re like long lost friends. In fact, now that I’m back in Wisconsin and socializing with the real Marie, Jo, and Angela, they seem even more real and helpful in solving this murder mystery. Here’s the opening lines from the book (unedited).

Jill Quint had just finished examining a row of dormant grapevines for signs of pests when her cell phone rang. It was probably a spam call, but she never knew for sure as it was also the number for Dr. Jill Quint, Forensic Pathologist.

“Hello, this is Jill.”

“Hello, is this Dr. Quint?” came a reedy voice. Jill put the caller at an age of 80s or 90s.

I should add that the real-life Jo and Marie (names are changed to protect the innocent, lol), don’t read murder mysteries and have never read about themselves in my books. Angela is my first reader and has occasionally said I didn’t get her dialogue correct. Her friends that have read my books tease her that she couldn’t hold onto a fictional boyfriend. (Nick dies in one of the early books). I was recently at an event where the host knew of my books and had read them. He wanted to know who was Jo and who was Marie. The two of them looked bewildered at the comment. It’s all good, lol.

Cheers,

Alec
